It can be fun. Here I just used my point-and-shoot on a tripod in shutter priority mode at 1/6, and my phone’s LED flashlight to add a little highlight. It was quick and easy, and the results were great.

I have a picture somewhere from college taken at night (though with the total exposure it looks like the middle of the day) where I’m shaking my own hand thanks to a 10+ second exposure and a flashlight (which was basically a flash, but twice during the exposure). That took a lot of tries to get right.
